UNAPPROVED

Potawatomi Property Owners Association

Board of Director’s Meeting

Date: Friday 9/26/2025

Board Members Present: Shaun Waggoner, Bob DeMeyer, Chrissy Johnson, Rick Tello, Kevin Honz, Nancy Collyard, Ed Cordell

Board Members Absent: None

PPOA Members Present: Three

Meeting was called to order by Shaun Waggoner at 10:01 am

Minutes:

A motion was made by Rick and seconded by Ed to accept the minutes from 7/16 and the 8/23 after annual meeting. Motion passed.

Approval of Agenda:

Shaun made a motion and Bob seconded to swap items 4 and 5 on the agenda. Motion passed.

Invasive species found in Breakfast Lake:

Mary Sorensen does water quality on Breakfast Lake. She reported what she felt was Eurasian Milfoil to the DNR. The DNR and AIS agreed with the identity of Eurasian Milfoil. Chris Webb from the AIS committee is working on a grant for treatment and brought this information to the Town of Barnes meeting on 9/16. This grant would be for $10,000 but would not be available until 2027. Someone from the AIS committee should be touching base with the PPOA board and hopefully will attend the October meeting. The treatment involves divers pulling the weeds and removing them and maybe chemical treatment. There was discussion about the ownership of the boat landing, closure of the landing and possible signage. Shaun will talk to the DNR about our options. We could include a note with the assessments that would make everyone aware of this.

Signs:

Shaun would like to update all of our signs. Rick said he and Ed could be responsible for checking on the signs and noting what they could do rather than pay someone to redo the signs.

Introduction of new members:

Kevin Honz, Rick Tello, Nancy Collyard 3-year terms. Ed Cordell appointed for a 1-year term

Problems with disrespect of the Island:

Someone has been propping open the Wanigan doors and leaving them open. Toilet paper is also disappearing. If everyone could make an effort to check on the Island and check for problems, it would be helpful.

Winter shutdown:

Manthey Plumbing will turn off the water at the campground on Oct 9. The Island will be shut down on Oct 12. The last garbage pickup will be the 2nd Tues in Oct. The Wi-Fi will be put on hold.

Administrator report:

We are waiting for the Bayfield County health department to be able to rent Cabins 1,2 and Cedarwood next year. The cabins will be cleaned this fall so that they will be easier to clean next spring. The cabin rentals are down compared to last year. There are electricians that are working at the Drummond school camping at the campground. We are owed approximated $2,500 for them. An invoice has been submitted to Hunt Electric.

We are also waiting for a check for the Kubb campground rental. Next year this will have to be paid in advance.

Financials:

As of Aug 31, the assessments are at $18,155.55 compared to last years $22.913.43. Rick will send out reminders.

The checking balance is $15,639.09. The savings balance is $104,386.28.

Chrissy made a motion and Bob seconded to accept the treasurer’s report. The motion passed.

Firewise:

The September chipping is done with just a few glitches. There was discussion about posting the rules.

Comments:

The association owns the road by the tractor barn off of George Lake Rd, but the PPOA property does not go through to Island Drive. The owner of that property is free to block her property.

Rick said we could meet at his house if it is too cold for the wanigan.

Ed will walk around and make note of things that need to be done before winter.

The October meeting will be Thursday Oct 23rd at 10 am and the November meeting will be Nov 18th at 10 am. Location to be announced.

Adjournment:

Rick made a motion and Ed seconded to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed and the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted by Nancy Collyard
