Island Lake received a Clean Waters Clean Boat (CWCB) monitoring grant. This will cover 20 hours of paid monitoring per week at the boat landing. It is expected that there will also be volunteer hours put in at the landing. Shawn has worked as a monitor. There is a power point program and training video on the Town of Barnes website. The PPOA website has information to access the training. Nancy Collyard went to the training in April. If you have any questions her email is ncollyard.ppoa@gmail.com.
PPOA is always in need of volunteers. How will we get the word out?
Common Facilities: Shaun checked the campground bathrooms. They look decent. He is working on a supply list. There are mouse droppings in the wanigan office.
Rick said the plumbers were here and the water is on . The showers on the island have a lot of rust. Vicky will order some rust foam(Wink). The wanigan and bathrooms will be opened on May 15.
Ed repaired the log siding on the Lodge. He will repair the window sills and shingles.
Rick said there is a large tree by the lodge that needs to be removed. Ed will check with Harvey Tree and Devon the tree guy and will arrange for the treee to be removed.
Rick would like help with Island cleanup. Wade and Rick already spent a day on this. Kevin and Bob will help Rick on Saturday.
Kate will be cleaning cabins again this year.
Shaun did check with the health department about renting cabins 1, 2 and Cedarwood as rustic cabins.
We do not have enough common bathrooms to do this.
Ed is working on the signs. There was some discussion about where to put the information kiosk.
Rentals: The rentals are going well. Rick and Chrissy have coordinated invoices. Chrissy is asking for information about boats that are going to be put in the lakes when the reservation is made.
Financial: On December 31,2025 the checking balance was $15,609.39. The savings balance was $120,127.27. The total income last year was $42,047.17. The total expenses were $ 44,931.97 . The website was updated in 2025. This was a one time charge.
The total assessments last year were $20,015.55. Rick did send out past due assessment notices this year. As of April 29 we have collected $21,710.79. There were $1090 in donations this year. Last year there were $799.60.
Rick is working with the insurance company for insurance this year. He is getting them updated information on the buildings. Rick is concerned with the increasing real estate taxes. Shaun said we could help offset this cost by transferring $70,000 from the savings to a CD. Motion by Nancy/Kevin to put $70,00 into a CD. Motion passed with Rick abstaining. Shaun will take care of this.
Firewise: The firewise chipping will be on June 8. Please see the website for information. We did get a grant for this year. Hopefully it will cover the cost. We did not have a picnic last year (there were only 3 board members last summer and they could not do everything). Shaun will look into a picnic this year.
The next meeting will be Thursday, May 28TH at the Wannigan.
Adjournment: Motion by Bob/Chrissy to adjourn. Motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 6:42.
