Lake Health: update on plan for Breakfast Lake. The grants for Breakfast, George and Island Lake all require volunteer hours. We have volunteers that have been trained and are ready. We are still awaiting a plan from the DNR before we can act. There are many opportunities to volunteer at the Island Lake boat landing. They ask that volunteers complete the Clean Boat Clean Water training. Still some confusion on signing up. Information about volunteering will be on the PPOA

website.(potawatomipropertyowners.com).

Common Facilities:

Shaun thanked volunteers for all of the work on the Island. A large dead tree was removed near the playground. Because of generous donations from our community we have collected over $1,100 this year. We will use that money to pressure wash and stain the Lodge and the Lakeview. That project starts next week. We have purchased the stain and will be renting a lift to complete the job.

We have a bear issue with the campground dumpster. Efforts are being made to secure a dumpster with a metal top.

Dennis has offered to make theft proof toilet paper holders.

We did have an incident where renters called 911 with a complaint of a gas smell in the Lodge basement. After a thorough inspection by Barnes Fire it was determined that. There was no gas present and that it was a musty smell. The Lodge had been closed for 2 full weeks and it was very hot and humid. Steps will be taken to open windows when possible and use Damp Rid. We do need board members to more often check the Wanigan garbage can. It appears people are now putting their garbage bags in there.

Ed had to relight the Lodge stove pilot.

Kate did a great job cleaning the cabins with a short same day turnaround on 7/14. We will try to avoid same day cabin turnover in the future.

Kate thanked everyone for the towels.

There are 7 stumps at the golf course that should be removed. It was agreed that a $500 expense is approved to complete that task.

There is concern about muskrats burrowing into the causeway shore. That will be assessed.

It was discovered that there has been a serious beaver issue on Turtle Lake. A lake resident has taken steps to legally remove them. We encourage owners to let us know if such action is being taken.

Discussion began on possible future campground improvements. We immediately need 4 more electrical sites and it would be great to restore water to those 8 electric sites.

Administrator report, website, rentals. Chrissy let us know that future rental

Inquiries are slowing but that we are on a very similar pace to last year. It’s unfortunate Chrissy often deals with some not very nice property owners about rental questions. It’s very easy to book on line and read our rules and requirements. Still people leave emails and voice messages thinking they have reserved something.

The garbage can at the Island Beach has to be reworked so garbage does not miss the cans.

Our largest rental of the year has confirmed again for this year. The KUBB tournament will be 9/4-7. They are renting the entire campground and Caretaker. There is a possibility they may also rent the lodge and/or Lakeview.

We talked about non WiFi camera options for the campground.

Financial:

Rick received and executed on the necessary paperwork for PPOA to continue as a Not for Profit Corporation. He is also working diligently with Ken Mertz to modify and secure our insurance for the upcoming 12 months. The assessment collection has been incredible. This year is pacing as it should. Rick has done a great job collecting passed due balances. As of July 15 the checking account balance is $40,868. The savings account balance is $104,647.

There are some big bills to be paid in the next month. Our checking account is projected to be approximately $24,000 after those payments are made.

Firewise:

Chrissy received and Shaun returned a call from a property owner that some large piles were missed on East Rad Oak during the June chipping event. That has been confirmed and it was agreed that those piles will be chipped in the fall rather than have Northern Lakes make a costly extra trip.

It was decided that we will not attempt to hold a community event this year.

The date for fall chipping has been set. Piles in place by 9/13, chipping to follow the week of 9/14. It is important to know that our cost for chipping in 2026 will exceed the grant money we get back. The board is fully supporting the fall chipping event and has set aside community funds to pay those costs.

There was no public comment.

The next meeting will be Thursday August 20 at 10 am at the Wanigan.

The Annual meeting will be Saturday August 22 at 10am outside the Wanigan. Community is encouraged to attend. Please bring a chair. We are looking for members of our community to join the board as we will have two openings announced at this meeting.

Adjournent: motion to adjourn Bob/Rick meeting adjourned at 11:50.
