Cabins 3, 4, 5 and 6 (a rustic experience!) CLOSED 2022

Step back in time to the pioneer days of the 1800’s. These “dog-trot” log structures were built with hand-hewn, white pine cut from the forests of the mainland and transported over water to the Island. These cabins, and other buildings on the Island, were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Cabin 5 and 6 building was the first log structure built on the Island (1887) and originally used as a dormitory. The building housing Cabins 3 and 4 (built in 1896) started as a dining hall/sleeping room combination. Each cabin has accomodations for 4 people with 2 double beds, a common screen porch and an assigned refrigerator. There is a common restroom and shower house located close by.
